Welcome to the Mindavation online project management newsletter.
Our commitment is to share news about project management upcoming events, tips & tricks of the trade, recommendations for reference and inspirational materials, and Mindavation course offerings.
This month's focus is program management. Managing multiple interrelated projects and ongoing services can be hair-raising, frustating and time- consuming, however, good program management techniques can keep you sane and provide huge corporate benefits.

Managing Programmes of Business Change by John Bartlett
As we are focusing this month's newsletter on program management it is fitting to recommend Managing Programmes of Business Change.
This book provides a well thought out approach to setting up, monitoring and managing a program. Of particular interest is Mr. Bartlett's discussion of the context in which the program is managed as presented in his "Benefits Systemigram" diagram, which Mindavation uses consistently to communicate the environmental requirements needed to make a program successful. The processes and approach to changing the sponsoring business presented in this book can assist the new or experienced program manager. In our view, this is the best book available in a very under-served aspect of the project management continuum.

| This Month's Article: Program Managers: More Than Just Super Project Managers |
 |
|
By Bob McGannon, PMP
You have successfully managed increasingly larger projects and are looking forward to "taking the next step" in your career path and assuming the role of Program Manager in your next assignment. An exciting opportunity, program management provides the means for managing larger and more complex inter-related projects. Beware however; the job of the program manager is more than just being a very competent project manager - a whole new set of skills is required to handle the myriad responsibilities that come with program management.
