| Free Template of the Month - Status Report |
 |
|
Each month Mindavation will offer a
template from our Project Templates CD free
of charge. Don't miss out on this opportunity!
This month's download is the Template Status
Report. A major component of project
communication is the ongoing communication of your
project status. This template can serve as the basis
for complete yet concise distribution of where your
project lies in terms of the triple constraints, risks
and ongoing issues. It is in Word format, so it can be
modified to suit your organizational and specific
project needs.

| Book Recommendation of the Month - Executive Intelligence—What All Great Leaders Have |
 |
|
Executive Intelligence—What All Great Leaders
Have by Justin Menkes HarperCollins New York, NY
2005
“You are not just looking for bright or accomplished
people. You need people with highly skilled judgment
who are effective at making things happen. But
finding these people is extraordinarily hard to do.”
The persona of the Executive, and what creates
success once it has been achieved, is studied via the
thorough and thoughtfully researched approach to
Executive Intelligence by Justin Menkes.
Project Managers will inevitably be engaged
with executives throughout the lifecycle of their
projects, and their careers. Understanding the
executive thinking process can both present
opportunities to connect for support and advocacy,
as well as help manage expectations along the
pathway to success. With that said, project
managers can and must create development for
themselves which could someday lead to executive
level leadership positions. This book gives you the
opportunity to understand, uncover, and begin the
process to grow into those positions.

| This Month's Article: Can You Succeed Where There is No Trust? |
 |
|
By Rick Griffin
Oh, what a world we live in today. You and your
project team have probably been a witness to the
dismantling of Trust within your environment.
Whether it came through a merger or acquisition, or
perhaps it was saying good luck to friends,
compatriots, and colleagues as they were the
casualties of “rightsizing.” Maybe you observed
apathetic leadership as they waited around for their
golden parachute, or a major criminal or ethic
scandal placed your company in the headlines. You
may have survived a leadership change that made
the 100-day march seem like a ride on the lazy river.
All of these events have unfortunately created
environments that you and your teams work in where
the nature, the concept, and even the word “Trust”
does not seem to exist.

| Event Presentation at the South Florida PMI Conference |
 |
|
Jayne Gnadt was an event speaker for the PMI®
South Florida
Chapter on October 13th in Coral Springs, FL.
Jayne’s
presentation, entitled “How to Turn Project Meeting
Disasters
into Motivation Opportunities,” examined the common
pitfalls of
project meetings and how to remedy them using
efficient
planning, organizational tools, and exciting activities.
The
presentation emphasized that project meetings are
not only
used to update and track the status of the project,
but can be
used to motivate and strengthen your team. The
end result:
more productive projects, stronger teams, and
meetings your
team will actually want to attend.
Jayne engaged participants during two breakout
sessions by
discussing the challenges we have with project
meetings,
garnering a 98% facilitator satisfaction rating from
the
participants. Melissa Otero from the South Florida
chapter
called the
presentation “a great success.”
